They achieve the richness of colour

Die Rheinpfalz, Frank Pommer

It is becoming increasingly fashionable to release classical CDs with a title and also including some arrangements. This is the case with the latest CD by the Linos Piano Trio, consisting of Prach Boondiskulchok (piano), Konrad Elias-Trostmann (violin) and Vladimir Waltham (cello).

“In Search of lost dance” is the title of their CD, on which they have recorded works by Maurice Ravel. There is, of course, the A minor piano trio on the one hand, but placed alongside orchestral works arranged by the ensemble itself, namely Ravel’s ” Pavane pour une infante défunte” and ” Le Tombeau de Couperin”.

It is absolutely fascinating how they achieve the richness of colour of Ravel’s orchestral music in this instrumentation for violin, cello and piano. One can hear every single subtle change of mood, as well as feel the longing for the lost dance.
