A genre is to be redefined, the history of music rewritten. The Linos Piano Trio has taken on a big task! First, the Trio unearthed some forgotten roots: with their debut CD, they proved that the piano trios of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach are more than just piano sonatas with accompaniment. Now they have added four spectacular virtuoso arrangements to the trio repertoire. The core and favourite item on the new album is Eduard Steuermann’s enigmatic piano trio version of Schönberg’s “Transfigured Night” from 1932.
Their performances of ‘hits’ by Debussy, Dukas and Ravel are ravishingly musical, amazingly homogeneous and absolutely stylish.
