Pianist Tim Horton can be heard on BBC Radio 3’s popular afternoon programme ‘Classical Live’ three times over the course of this week, in live recordings from his recent duo concert with fellow pianist Ivana Gavrić (Lomonaco Artists).
The concert, which was presented by Music in the Round at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre in February, was described by critic Fiona Maddocks as “a richly enjoyable performance” in her review for The Observer. It followed Horton and Gavrić’s performance in the same series last year, which was described by Bachtrack as “piano playing at its most brutal and visceral… compelling”.
On 31st March, BBC Radio 3 broadcast the opening work of the concert, Debussy’s En blanc et noir, followed on 1st April by Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances, op. 45. On 2nd April, their performance of Ravel’s La Valse will be heard on Classical Live at 1:00pm. Each programme is available to listen to in BBC Sounds for 30 days following its original broadcast.
Tim can next be heard in recital for Curry Rivel Music on 25th April, and looks forward to concluding his Chopin cycle for Wigmore Hall this June.
