Pianist Tim Horton looks forward to giving the final concert in his Chopin cycle for Wigmore Hall in June, marking ten years since his debut at London’s iconic chamber music venue.
Looking at Chopin’s works through the lens of music by the composers that inspired him, and by those on whose music Chopin’s influence can be keenly felt, the series has been enthusiastically received by the press, and was the subject of an episode of BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’.
The Boulezian wrote of the first concert in the series that “this recital… announced a major voice in its own right, one with interesting and instructive things to say about and with this music”, going on to describe the third as “vividly communicative.” On the most recent recital in the cycle, ArtMuse reflected that “Horton gave an air of playing instinctively, as if coming to the Scherzos for the first time.”
In the final concert of the cycle, Tim will focus exclusively on Chopin, performing a carefully curated selection of polonaises, waltzes, mazurkas and nocturnes alongside the Barcarolle in F sharp, op. 60, the Impromptu no. 2 in F sharp, op. 36 and the Andante spianato et grande polonaise brillante, op. 22, which closes the programme. The concert takes place at Wigmore Hall on Friday 12th June at 7:00pm, and tickets and further details may be found by clicking the link below.
