As the year comes to a close, the Montenegrin Guitar Duo reflect on a recent performance of their signature repertoire for the Curry Rivel Music Club in Somerset.
Guitarist Danijel Cerović praised St. Andrew’s Church, Curry Rivel, as a “fantastic church with a great acoustic” in his words during the concert, which was enthusiastically received by the audience of the music club.
The Duo opened the concert with their own arrangement of J.S. Bach’s French Suite no. 2 in C minor, BWV 813, before performing Fernano Sor’s L’Encouragement, op. 34 and three works by Manuel De Falla. Following the interval, they turned to young Croatian composer Šimun Čarli Botica, performing his Ex Nihilo, composed especially for the Duo, followed by Santiago Lanchares’ Recuerdos de Fandango. The programme closed with Sergio Assad’s arrangement of Piazzolla’s Suite Troileana, which the Duo have recently recorded on video for Savare. As an encore, they performed Argentinian Knife Thrower, the dramatic opening movement from Carlo Domeniconi’s Circus Music, op. 54a.
The Montenegrin Guitar Duo recently released a video concert for Siccas Guitar Studio in Karlsruhe, which brings their performances of music by J.S. Bach, De Falla and Piazzolla to a worldwide audience. The Duo looks forward to performing next at the Bergisches Gitarrenfestival in January, details of which may be found by following the link below.
