‘Harrison, whose unforced and highly approachable idiom encapsulates the poise and understatement of a bygone era’ Gramophone
Pamela Harrison (1915-1990) was a forgotten voice of British chamber music until Robert Plane and the Gould Trio embarked on their revival of her work. This has resulted in two acclaimed albums as well as performances of her music at festivals and music clubs and radio broadcasts. Harrison was born in Orpington, Kent. She grew up in Crockham Hill and after her marriage lived at ‘The Cearne’, a house owned by the Bloomsbury set authors, the Garnetts. The countryside of Kent and the Weald in particular was a great influence on Harrison‘s music.
A pre-concert illustrated talk about Harrison’s life and work is also available to promoters.
