Tashmina artist Robert Plane marks the centenary of composer Charles Villiers Stanford in performances with the Gould Piano Trio and Ensemble 360, and the inclusion of a track from one of his recordings in this week’s Radio 3 Composer of the Week.
Robert Plane and Benjamin Frith’s recording of Stanford’s Three Intermezzi, op 13 no. 1 is included on the playlist for the first in a new series from BBC Composer of the Week focused on the life and work of Charles Villiers Stanford, whose centenary is celebrated this year. Other artists performing during the day include Will Vann, Ailish Tynan and Julien Van Mellearts.
The following month he appears with Ensemble 360, performing Stanford’s Fantasy no. 1 for Clarinet and String Quartet as part of Jordans Music Club’s Stanford Centenary Concert on 16th June. Full information and tickets for both performances can be found by following the links below.
