The Gould Piano Trio are pleased to announce the addition of five new programmes to their portfolio.
Each programme highlights the Trio’s breadth of artistry, with core piano trio repertoire placed alongside less regularly heard works. Respected internationally as one of the leading piano trios of today, the Gould Piano Trio has been compared in the Washington Post to the great Beaux Arts Trio for their “musical fire” and “dedication to the genre” and has remained at the forefront of the international chamber music scene for over a quarter of a century.
Schumann and His Inspirations places Schumann’s Six Études in Canonic Form, op. 56 and Piano Trio no. 3 in G minor, op. 110 alongside works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Elliott Carter and Helen Grime over the course of three concerts. Schumann’s Circle sees the Trio perform his Six Études in Canonic Form, op. 56 in the context of works by the composers by whom he was surrounded, Clara Schumann, Mendelssohn, Theodor Kirchner and Brahms.
Night Music explores the nocturnal world as imagined by Bloch, Beethoven and Schönberg, including the latter’s seminal Verklärte Nacht arranged for piano trio by Eduard Steuermann. Haydn Plus brings together Haydn’s Piano Trios no. 43 in C major, Hob XV:27 and no. 45 in E flat major, Hob.XV:29 with works by Brahms and Marschner, whose trios the Gould Piano Trio champion in their current recording project for Naxos. Emerging Genius presents early works by four great composers: Schubert, Beethoven, Korngold and Mendelssohn.
Each programme is available for booking for any future season. Full details of all programmes currently offered by the Gould Piano Trio may be found by clicking here.
