Booking opens next month for the 2025 Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, directed by the Tashmina Artists Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio.
Called an “enterprising little festival” by The Guardian, the Corbridge Chamber Music Festival has brought world-class chamber music to Tynedale in Northumberland for over twenty five years. Since its inception, the festival has welcomed attendees annually for a ‘long weekend’ of world-class concerts, inter-disciplinary events, and exploration of the surrounding area’s natural beauty and historical interest.
This year, the artistic directors are joined by guest artists well known to the UK’s chamber music scene, including Magnus Johnston (violin), Gary Pomeroy (viola) and Ben Goldscheider (horn), and by musicologist Richard Wigmore and artist/printmaker Jo Westgate.
The festival programme boasts performances of chamber music masterpieces, and opens with a programme that includes Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel and Ravel’s String Quartet, in celebration of the composer’s 150th anniversary. Further events include a Baroque programme in a cafe-style setting, the world premiere of a new work by Piers Hellawell, a concert given by Flutes and Frets Duo, and a performance of Berwald’s Grand Septet in B flat major.
This year, the festival’s extramusical programming nods to the 1350th anniversary of St. Wilfrid’s founding of the festival’s home, St. Andrew’s Church. Audience members are invited to participate in a walk from Hexham to St. Andrew’s which will be bookended by special performances by the festival’s artists.
