BBC Music Magazine, Michael Beek ★★★★
Here’s another treasure trove of works by the British composer Pamela Harrison (1915–90).
It’s certainly wonderful to be introduced to her songs, but for me the real treat here is the characterful Septet; indeed, its rich variety of styles paints an appealing and very colourful picture. Engaging performances from Alice Neary and Jâms Coleman in the Cello Sonata, with James Gilchrist perfectly cast in the song set.
