Pianist Tim Horton plays music of the night, from a luminous sonata by Joseph Haydn to Helen Grime’s exquisitely coloured miniatures, Thomas Adès’ mysterious Three Mazurkas, and Ravel’s dark-hued Gaspard de la Nuit. The programme culminates in Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight’ Sonata in C sharp minor op.27 no.2.
