Corvus Consort and harpist Louise Thomson’s album ‘Welcome Joy’ has been named by BBC Music Magazine as one of the 13 best albums of 2024 in its year-end review.
Described by the magazine as “always full of fresh thinking”, Corvus Consort has gained a reputation for creative collaboration and inspired programming, and with Louise Thomson has explored and expanded the repertoire for voices and harp.
Selected from hundreds of new releases in 2024, BBC Music Magazine’s list of top recordings includes their choice of “must-have” albums, with ‘Welcome’ Joy’ having been described by the magazine earlier this year as a “jewel-box of works for women’s voices”.
Since its release in September, ‘Welcome Joy’ has received critical acclaim across the press, praised for being “beautifully sung” by Gramophone. The album was selected by BBC Radio 3’s Essential Classics as Album of the Week, and excelled in the official classical music charts in the week following its release.
