Tim Horton embarks on a characteristically dynamic survey of the composer’s work at London’s Wigmore Hall this winter.
Known for his thoughtful and exploratory programming, Tim Horton invites listeners to experience Chopin’s works for piano through the lens of the composers whose music inspired him, and those who were influenced by his legacy. Beginning this December, this series comprises six concerts at Wigmore Hall taking place over the course of the next three years.
The first concert in the cycle pairs Chopin’s Préludes, Book 2 with those by Claude Debussy, followed by a programme that puts Chopin’s Ballade no. 1 in G into dialogue with works by Mozart and fellow Polish composer Szymanowski. Next summer’s installment sees Chopin’s 2 Nocturnes, op. 48 in radical contrast with music by Stockhausen and Schumann, with the fourth concert placing Chopin alongside J.S. Bach. In 2026, Tim turns to Ravel’s poetic Gaspard de la Nuit to pair with Chopin, before the cycle culminates in an all-Chopin programme in June.
Booking is now open for the first two concerts in this cycle, with more information and tickets available via the links below.
