Tim Horton to live-stream Chopin and Debussy from Ulverston

Pianist Tim Horton looks forward to giving a live-streamed recital this coming Sunday as part of the Ulverston International Music Festival in Cumbria, with music by Chopin and Debussy.

Streamed live from St Mary’s Church, Barrow-in-Furness, Tim’s will be the eleventh online concert of the Festival’s 2021 series.

The performance begins at 7:00pm on Sunday 25th April, and can be streamed for free via the link on the Festival website.

Tim will play three single-movement works by Chopin, including two Ballades which feature as part of his ongoing Chopin cycle project. Ballade no. 1 in G minor (op. 23) and Ballade no. 4 in F minor (op. 52) are the book-ends of the programme, with the Waltz in A minor (op. 34, no. 2) sitting at the centre. The Chopin pieces are separated by the two books of Debussy’s Images, a work which Debussy himself asserted to be worthy of a place alongside Chopin. Images consists of six movements in two sets, including impressionistic depictions of water, bells, moonlight and a fish.
