Tim Horton to perform special new work at North Norfolk Music Festival

Tim Horton returns to the North Norfolk Music Festival next week to give a concert featuring solo piano works and a brand new piece for viola and piano.

A regular performer at the Festival, Tim has been invited to give this special recital with Artistic Director and violist Simon Rowland-Jones, whose new work An Elegy for William Birtles will be premiered as part of the programme.

The concert takes place on Friday 20 August at 6:00pm, and tickets are available via the North Norfolk Music Festival website.

Taking place at St Mary’s Church, South Creake, the concert is dedicated to the memory of William Birtles, a great friend and supporter of the Festival up until his death in January 2020. In his memory, Simon Rowland-Jones was asked to compose an elegy, and Tim is honoured to be giving the premiere of the resulting work for viola and piano, alongside Simon in this concert.

The programme will also feature two works for solo piano, performed by Tim, which frame the newly-composed elegy. The recital opens with Haydn’s Andante and Variations in F minor (aka ‘Un piccolo divertimento’) and then concludes with Schubert’s monumental and uplifting late Sonata in G major, D.894.

Concert tickets are £20, and £12 from the price of each ticket will be donated to Barts Hospital.
