We are thrilled to announce pianist Simon Callaghan as the newest addition to the agency roster. Steinway Artist Simon is in fact already a “Tashmina Artist”, as one half of the Parnassius Piano Duo; we look forward to building on what has proven to be a highly successful relationship with Simon to now provide his General Management, incorporating both his solo and chamber work.
Simon’s engagements have taken him all over the UK to venues including the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, and St David’s Hall, Cardiff. He has also performed in Europe and the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Thailand as well as being broadcast on BBC Radio 3, ITV and BBC Television.
Simon has released a number of recordings with SOMM, the first two of which are of Delius Orchestral Music with Hiroaki Takenouchi. His work with SOMM led to two further volumes of Brahms chamber music, with award-winning cellist James Barralet, violinist Anna-Liisa Bezrodny and violist Hannah Strijbos (including the first recording of all the Hungarian Dances in Barralet’s arrangement for ‘cello and piano).
Callaghan’s latest release, the first ever recording of piano works by Roger Sacheverell Coke – featuring world première recordings of the Preludes Op.33 and 34 and the Variations Op.37 of this wonderful and unjustly neglected English composer – has been widely praised by the critics, including Stephen Pritchard of The Observer.
Callaghan’s discography also includes the well received disc of violin sonatas with Midori Komachi, with whom he will give some highly anticipated recitals in Tokyo in November 2015. Coming up more imminently in Simon’s concert diary are a piano recital at Cheltenham Town Hall, a concerto with the Yorkshire Young Sinfonia and a performance with the Carducci Quartet at Harrow School.
