Tim Horton looks forward to performing Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto with the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra this weekend.
“I’ve done a lot with Sheffield Chamber Orchestra in the past, but not for quite a few years now. It’s a real pleasure to come back,” said Tim in a preview interview with the orchestra’s Stuart Green.
Taking place at Ecclesall Parish Church, this performance marks Tim’s first performance of the work in ten years, and one of many throughout the course of his distinguished career.
Tim will perform under the leadership of conductor Laurence Perkins in this concert, which places the concert alongside orchestral works by Mozart, Delius and Beethoven.
In discussion with Green, Tim remarks that Schumann was a “musician’s musician”. His fascination with the composer’s music forms part of the inspiration for his work with Trio Meister Raro, a natural extension of his work with Rachel Roberts and Robert Plane as fellow members of Ensemble 360. The trio will perform Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen, op. 132 as part of their concerts in Guiting and Cumbria later this year.
Tim’s performance of Schumann’s Piano Concerto takes place on Saturday 8th March and 7.30pm. Ticket information and further details may be found by following the link below.
