Scala Radio’s ‘One to Watch’

The Solem Quartet is Scala Radio‘s ‘One to Watch ‘ and their album, ‘Painted Light’, will continue to feature on the station’s output during the coming week.

Listen out for their music on Richard Allinson’s Drivetime show on Monday 30th at 4pm, and again on YolanDa Brown’s programme on the 5th at 12 noon.

Our thanks to Scala Radio for also having previously included tracks from Painted Light over this last weekend, to mark the release:

  • Friday: Penny Smith’s 10am show included “lovely lovely music from Edmund Finnis” – namely the first movement of his string quartet Devotions, commissioned by the Solem Quartet.
  • Saturday: Jack Pepper (Culture Bunker) 3pm

Do have a listen to ‘Earth’ composed by Ayanna Witter-Johnson on Ayanna’s own Scala Radio episode here, broadcast on 21st October, when she also talks about how the track ‘Earth’ came to be written, and how it was subsequently adapted especially for the recording in response to an invitation from the Solem Quartet.
