Heroes and Villains with James Mayhew and the de Havilland Philharmonic

Robin and the de Havilland Philharmonic recently presented “Heroes and Villains” with illustrator and writer James Mayhew in two sell-out family concerts.

James is the creator of the much-loved Katie and Ella Bella Ballerina series and many other books, including Koshka’s Tales, Miranda the Explorer and Boy. The collaboration is a regular fixture in the de Havilland Philharmonic’s calendar, now requiring two concerts on the same day to satisfy the demand for seats. Classical works which they introduced to their young audience, combining live classical music, storytelling and art, were:

Copland – Billy The Kid Suite
Grieg – Four pieces from Peer Gynt (Morning; Death of Åse; Solveig’s Song; In the Hall of the Mountain King)
Rossini – William Tell Overture
