Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio live on BBC Radio 3

Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio perform live on BBC Radio 3 twice this month ahead of this year’s Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, of which they are co-artistic directors.

BBC Radio 3 will host clarinettist Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio on 24th July, where they will talk to presenter Petroc Trelawny on the popular ‘Breakfast’ show about this year’s Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, which takes place from July 25th – 28th.

The artists will also perform the Adagio from Louise Farrenc’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano in E flat major, op. 44, and the Scherzo from Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, op. 15, live from The Bowes Museum in County Durham.

The programme will be aired at 8am on BBC Radio 3, and may be listened to live and for 30 days after broadcast by following this link. (update – you can hear them from 2.11.07 into the programme, and then again from 2.46.28)

The artists will appear the week prior on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’, speaking to host Sean Rafferty about the Corbridge Chamber Music Festival and performing the slow movement of the Brahms Piano Trio op. 101, Pamela Harrison’s Drifting Away, and the last movement of the Haydn A Major Piano Trio, Hob XV:18. They will be joined by one of the festival’s guest artists, bandoneonist and composer JP Jofre, who will perform his work ‘Transcendence‘. The programme will be aired at 5pm on July 17th, and will available via this link for 30 days following the broadcast. Taking place in the idyllic setting of Tynedale, the critically-acclaimed Corbridge Chamber Music Festival has been directed by Robert and the Trio for over 25 years, and comprises three days of concerts and other events featuring the artistic directors alongside a roster of talented guest artists.
