The Parnassius Piano Duo – Hiroaki Takenouchi and Simon Callaghan – will be performing at Guiting Music Festival at the end of July. The annual festival brings together music of all genres and Hiro and Simon are very excited to be a part of it again, having been invited to return after their concert in the 2013 festival when they stood in for Joanna MacGregor at short notice.
Simon has just released his CD of music by Roger Sacheverell Coke. On the SOMM label, the recording features world première recordings of the Preludes Op.33 and 34 and the Variations Op.37 “of this wonderful and unjustly neglected English composer!”
Hiro started the year with a tour of Scotland, highlighting works by Scottish composer Helen Hopekirk. His recent CD release – Haydn Sonatas – continues to garner extremely enthusiastic feedback and much praise from all quarters.
The duo take their “love, panache and exact synchronisation” (BBC Music Magzine) to the heart of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds on 29th July, when they will present a varied programme which includes Haydn, Sterndale and Stravinsky; they look forward to seeing you there!
