Their concert will form part of classical guitar concert series Rasgueado Ljubljana, and will take place at the city’s National Museum of Contemporary History.
The duo’s concert programme will be a selection of Suites from the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Opening with J. S. Bach, the duo will perform their own transcriptions of his English Suites no. 2 and no. 6, both of which featured in their two-part complete recording of Bach’s English Suites for Naxos, released in 2015 and 2018 respectively. From there they will move forward 250 years to two multi-movement suites by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. First will come Piazzolla’s Suite Troileana, written in memory of fellow Argentinian tango musical Aníbal Troilo, and appearing here in its guitar duo arrangement by Sergio Assad, who is also dedicatee of the concert’s final piece — Piazzolla’s Tango Suite, a virtuosic work originally composer for the renowned guitar duo brothers Sergio and Odair Assad.
