‘Mixed’ – A Musical Story from Concerteenies featuring Louise Thomson

Following the highly successful pilot performances of Concerteenies’ brand-new Musical Stories, which took place at ten different SSELP nurseries and schools across Sheffield, the videos are now available online. These include ‘Mixed’, featuring harpist Louise Thomson, a well-loved regular at Concerteenies.

You can watch ‘Mixed’ here.

Composer Paul Rissmann was commissioned to write five pieces, each based on a children’s book and performed by a professional solo instrumentalist with Polly Ives:

All the performances feature image projections, with cross-curricular learning resources and activities to accompany each book designed to provide ideas to explore with children before and after they watch the Musical Story.
Sheffield South East Learning Partnership (SSELP) consists of eighteen schools in the South East of the city of Sheffield. Many of the schools are situated in socio-economic areas of deprivation, some with high levels of English as an additional language. The schools face many challenges as they collaborate to raise attainment, aspiration and life chances for every child in the partnership.
This Concerteenies Musical Stories project is possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England, Sheffield Music Hub, Sheffield South East Learning Partnership – SSELP School Direct, the Sheffield Grammar School Exhibition Foundation and the Freshgate Trust Foundation.

‘Mixed’ is written by published by Macmillan Publishing Group. You can buy the book here.
