A new film featuring the Linos Piano Trio is now available to audiences worldwide on Ard Klassik.
Produced by SWR Kultur, the film presents a live performance given by the Trio of Beethoven’s Piano Trio op. 70, no. 1, Ghost. The performance took place in the Schloss Bruchsal in April 2025 in the second of three concerts given by the Trio at the castle, a series which saw the Trio explore Beethoven’s piano trios through the lens of the development of the piano during the composer’s lifetime. The Trio selected a different piano to highlight for each concert, with their filmed performance using a Broadwood piano from 1806.
Praised for their “slow-burning, gripping performance” by The Strad, and “virtuosity, presence of mind, and wit” by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Linos Piano Trio has earned international acclaim for its boundary-pushing instincts and depth of interpretation. This film affords a wider audience a window into a series of unique performances that garnered critical acclaim in the German press.
Classical music publication Pamina wrote that “Beethoven’s music regularly becomes a profound experience with the Linos Piano Trio. One could almost think that the three were born with it—that’s how natural and self-evident it all seems” while the Badische Neueste Nachrichten remarked on the Trio’s “extraordinary presence”. The Trio’s live readings of the Beethoven piano trios form the basis of a recording of the works which will be released by CAvi-music.
