Karina Lucas joins tenor Luke Sinclair and the Scottish Highlands ensemble, The Mahler Players, for three performances of Mahler’s unique creation, symphony in all but name and form Das Lied von der erde in Ullapool, Findhorn and Inverness this spring.
Highly respected for their reduced orchestration arrangements which utilise the remarkable pool of instrumental talent in the Highlands, The Mahler Players’ inaugural concerts in 2013 featuring Mahler’s 4th Symphony in Klaus Simon’s chamber arrangement were hailed a great success, described by critics as a “tour de force” and “beautifully idiomatic”.
Das Lied von der erde is preceded by Bach arr. Webern Ricercar à 6; Webern Symphony Op. 21 and a new commission by the award winning Scottish composer Stuart MacRae. Tomas Leakey conducts.
