The Galliard Ensemble’s new release ‘From the Beginning’ (Deux-Elles DXL1198) is featured on this week’s episode of BBC Radio 3’s Record Review.
Presenter Andrew McGregor praised the ensemble’s ‘attractive, responsive playing’, and featured the Rondeau from Francis Poulenc’s Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano as a selected track.
‘From the Beginning’ marks 30 years of collaboration between the Galliard Ensemble and Sam Haywood – a musical relationship that began at the Royal Academy of Music in 1993, and has continued to flourish through countless performances over the last three decades. The album is a beautiful combination of music for wind quintet and piano by Mozart, Thuille and Poulenc, and is available to stream worldwide on all major platforms.
The programme is available to listen again until 23rd March, and can be found via this link.
