Ensemble 360 brings immersive educational and performance programming to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama this month.
Together with soprano Claire Booth, Ensemble 360 continues to explore the world of Schoenberg’s seminal work Pierrot Lunaire following the release of their critically-acclaimed album ‘Pierrot Portraits’.
Having enjoyed concerts together as part of Hatfield House Chamber Music and Oxford International Song festivals earlier this autumn, the ensemble now turn their attention to engaging young artists, leading students at Cardiff’s Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in their own foray into the language and drama of this early twentieth century masterpiece.
Instrumentalists at the college will have the opportunity to work with Ensemble 360 members Juliette Bausor, Benjamin Nabarro, Gemma Rosefield, Tim Horton, and Robert Plane, who serves as the college’s Head of Woodwind Performance. Additionally, students in the college’s vocal department will be coached by soprano Claire Booth (IMG Artists), whose devotion to the works of the second Viennese school has earned her a reputation as one of today’s leading exponents of the style.
Ensemble 360’s residency at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will culminate in a concert on 21st November, full details of which may be found in the link below.
Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire will be preceded in this programme by Helen Grime’s Seven Pierrot Miniatures, Brahms’ Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano in A minor, op. 114, and the world premiere of Piers Hellawell’s Woodsmoke.
