Corbridge Chamber Music Festival 2022

Tickets will soon be released for the 2022 Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, taking place 28-31 July, with a packed diary of seven concerts and six other events over four days.

As well as being Artistic Directors, Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio are the Festival’s key performers, and look forward to working alongside guest artists including the Elias String Quartet, poet and narrator SinĂ©ad Morrissey, and composer in residence Piers Hellawell.

Robert Plane will give six different performances alongside the Goulds over the course of the Festival, as well as being the soloist in Finzi’s ever-popular Five Bagatelles with the Festival String Orchestra, in which local amateur players are invited to join the resident professionals.

The Festival String Orchestra will also perform Suite for Timothy by Pamela Harrison, who is being spotlighted throughout the Festival. There will be an exhibition dedicated to Harrison’s life and work featuring photos, letters, concert programmes and musical memorabilia, assembled by Robert Plane together with the composer’s son (Timothy). Rob also looks forward to performing Harrison’s Clarinet Sonata in ‘Concert 5’, alongside music by Mendelssohn and composer in residence Piers Hellawell.

Other featured repertoire for Rob includes an arrangement of Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata for clarinet quintet by Brian Newbould in ‘Concert 1’, Arthur Bliss’s Clarinet Quintet in ‘Concert 4’, and Walter Rabl’s Quartet for clarinet, violin, cello and piano, Op. 1, in ‘Concert 7’.
