Simon Callaghan: Korngold and Bridge at Highgate International Chamber Music Festival on Friday 2 December

On Friday 2nd December, Simon Callagahan joins pianist Irina Botan, Benjamin Gilmore and Francesco Sica (violins), Juan-Miguel Hernandez (viola) and Ashok Klouda (cello) in this year’s Highgate International Chamber Music Festival  in a programme of Beethoven, Korngold, Bridge and Franck entitled ‘Celebrations!’.

This annual classical chamber music festival brings together outstanding chamber musicians from around the world for one week of music making in the heart of North London. Founded in 2012 by Irina Botan, Natalie Klouda violinist and composer and Ashok Klouda cellist, this year’s theme is ‘Ode to Joy!’ which celebrates many of the most positive aspects of humanity through individually themed concerts, such as humour, generosity and love. The Festival will also pay tribute to Lord Yehudi Menuhin (celebrating 100 years since his birth), Shakespeare (400th anniversary of his death) and Ludwig Van Beethoven who took Schiller’s inspirational text and made it the centre piece of his 9th Symphony.
