Opportunities to hear the New Oxford Consort

The New Oxford Consort’s next concerts, on 28th November and 1st December, provide a great chance to hear the group who recently launched a collaboration with Tashmina Artist Louise Thomson (harp).

Louise and the New Oxford Consort are offering an enticing programme of music for upper voices and harp, entitled “Eastern Pictures”, featuring in particular the music of Gustav and Imogen Holst. Their programme showcases the broad range of excellent music that is available to the combination of upper-voice choir and harp, with works including Gustav Holst’s ‘Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda’.

New publicity images for Louise Thomson also feature in Chetham's exhibition

Louise Thomson recently released a new set of publicity images, taken as part of the “50 portraits” exhibition at Chetham’s School of Music by Sara Porter.

Wonderful Programme of Music for Eight Upper Voices and Harp

The brand-new collaboration between Louise Thomson and the New Oxford Consort is offering an enticing programme for future bookings, entitled “Eastern Pictures”, for upper voices and harp.

The title of the programme is taken from Gustav Holst’s work of the same name, and refers more broadly to his intense interest, during the early years of the 20th century, in the ancient religious literature and poetry of India. During this period he penned several works for the combination of voices and harp, and three of them feature in this programme.
