With Jamie Campbell (violin) Drawing on their vast and varied experience as soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians, Simon and Jamie will offer specialist coaching on your chosen repertoire and will also aim to introduce lesser-known works for piano and strings. The course is open to both pre-formed ensembles as well as individual applicants, and the tutors will put together new groups of similar ability at the start of the course. A list of set works will be sent out closer to the time.

This year's Corbridge Chamber Music Festival will be taking place online, with a series of concerts being streamed on the festival's YouTube channel from 24th-26th July.
The Gould Piano Trio and Robert Plane, Artistic Directors of the festival, will be joined by a select group of talented performers to present this virtual incarnation of the annual summer festival.
The content will include several concerts recorded specially for the festival at the homes of the performers, as well as some archive footage from recent pre-lockdown live events. The music presented will range from Bach to Beethoven to Boulez, and includes several solo performances as well as chamber ensembles.
There will be no charge to watch the videos online, but donations are encouraged where possible, to help secure the future of the festival during this challenging time.

'Beethoven’s Ghost'
Krysia Osostowicz (violin), Linos Piano Trio: Prach Boondiskulchok (piano), Konrad Elias-Trostmann (violin), Vladimir Waltham (cello)
Beethoven’s little-known violin sonata in A, showing him at his most playful and subversive, precedes the famous “Ghost” piano trio whose eerie-sounding slow movement was reputedly inspired by a scene from Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This is revolutionary music, full of dramatic extremes, deep darkness and radiant light.

'The Trout'
Linos Piano Trio with Krysia Osostowicz (viola); Jenna Sherry (violin), Alinka Rowe (viola), Eliza Millet (cello)
Schubert’s glorious quintet, maybe one of the most best-loved classics of all time, needs no introduction. But first, a little-known work by Mahler, his only piece of chamber music: intense and brooding in tone, acting as a sombre prelude to one of Schubert’s most joyful creations.
Mahler – Piano Quartet movement in A minor
Schubert – Quintet in A Major, “The Trout”
'The Archduke'
Linos Piano Trio, Alinka Rowe (viola), Eliza Millet (cello)
First we hear a contemporary and highly approachable duet composed by virtuoso violist Garth Knox, full of folk rhythms and quirky harmonies. Then another of Beethoven’s most celebrated works, dedicated to his great friend and patron Archduke Rudolph of Austria. Although Beethoven gave the first performance of the trio, his encroaching deafness prevented him from ever playing the piano in public again. The music, sunny and majestic in tone, betrays nothing of his struggle with this devastating illness.
Garth Knox – Pocket Concerto for viola and cello
Beethoven – Piano Trio in E Flat, op 97 “The Archduke”

'Bach & Sons'
Krysia Osostowicz, Jenna Sherry (violins); Linos Piano Trio
Johann Sebastian Bach can be considered the father of Western classical music; he also fathered 20 children, several of whom became composers. Alongside Bach Senior, we will enjoy the music of three of his sons including Carl Phillip Emanuel, whose amazingly inventive piano trios have just been recorded for the first time by the Linos Piano Trio. The trio’s pianist, Prach Boondiskulchok, contributes to the fun with his own set of “Inventions” inspired by JS Bach and composed during Lockdown.
