In this film, Daniel takes us to beautiful Twente in the Netherlands, and to the ancient village of Stift where he grew up. We go inside the intimate 14th-century village church where many of the festival’s concerts are held, and then on a tour of this beautiful location.
Having recently returned from Dublin, where he performed the “Eight Seasons” at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in their international Visiting Artist Series, Daniel Rowland is looking forward to working with Nicholas Milton and Orchestre de Picardie in the coming week. He gives three performances of the Glass Concerto:
Following several highly successful appearances with the City of Joensuu Orchestra over recent years, performing concerto no. 2 by Philip Glass, and the Vivaldi/Piazzolla “Eight Seasons” with conductor Arie van Beek, the orchestra has invited him to return – this time to perform Lindberg’s Violin Concerto no. 1. He has just arrived there for rehearsals, and the concert takes place on Thursday evening. The conductor is Jurjen Hempel.
