Lumas Winds perform across the UK this summer

Lumas Winds are pleased to announce their summer engagements, which will see them perform Sally Beamish’s wind quintet ‘The Naming of Birds’ at an array of venues across the UK.

Winners at the 71st Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition, Lumas Winds recently achieved international recognition as first prize winners at the 2026 Lyon International Chamber Music Competition, and have just joined the Tashmina Artists roster. This multi award winning quintet is at the forefront of the new generation of wind ensembles, and has been described as an ‘effervescent wind quintet, lively in their performance style and enterprising in their choice of repertoire’ (Seen and Heard International). Committed ambassadors for wind chamber music and the rich variety of repertoire it offers, they regularly feature at festivals and music clubs up and down the UK.

This summer, the ensemble present a programme that features ‘The Naming of Birds’ by Sally Beamish, the titular work on their critically-acclaimed debut album, released in 2024 by Champs Hill Records. Carefully curated to demonstrate the breadth of their artistic expression, their current concert programme also includes Beamish’s arrangement of Mozart’s Adagio for Glass Harmonica, as well as works by Bozza, Beamish, Mozart, Coleman, Hindemith, Bernstein and Schifrin.

Following their recent performance on the 10th May at Concerts at Cratfield in East Suffolk, Lumas Winds will next present their programme on 16th May when they appear at the Welwyn Garden Concert Club. On 20th May, the ensemble will perform at the historic Leighton House for the Kensington and Chelsea Music Society.

On 8th June, Lumas perform a shorter version of the programme in their lunchtime concert at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Music Room, and appear at the Borders Music and Arts Society on 18th June. On 23rd June, the ensemble will give a concert as part of the HACS Harrogate Music Festival, and on 7th September, they will perform at the Manchester Midday Concerts Society in Bridgewater Hall.
