Booking is now open for the Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, co-directed by Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio.
The ensemble writes:
‘Corbridge becomes the musical centre of the North-East once again over the last long weekend in July.
Alongside our customary celebration of the classics of the repertoire, by Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Schumann, we introduce you to less familiar works, embracing the significant musical anniversaries of the composers Benjamin Britten and György Kurtág. Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time always stirs the soul like no other piece, especially when accompanied by the words of our distinguished guest poet Michael Symmons Roberts, author of an acclaimed book charting his own personal relationship with the masterpiece.
We welcome instruments never seen before in our festival, the Hungarian cymbalom and the Norwegian hardanger fiddle, as well as featuring a frenzy of flutes in our fun workshop with London Symphony Orchestra principal flute, Amy Yule.
Our family concert takes us on an animal ‘safari’, and there’s a chance to soak up the atmosphere of a Hungarian ‘cafe’. With concerts at all times of day and music for all tastes, join us in Corbridge for a glorious musical celebration.’
The festival takes place from 23rd – 26th July. For tickets and more details, please click here.
