Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio head north

In the year that sees them celebrate the 25th anniversary of their Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, Robert Plane and the Gould Piano Trio look forward to performing across the north of England this autumn.

This November, Robert and the Trio will present an eclectic programme for Ripon Concerts. The concert includes a performance of Piers Hellawell’s The Rising of Sirius, commissioned by the artists to celebrate the legacy of St Wilfrid – a prominent figure in the area’s history – which receives its premiere this summer at the Corbridge Chamber Music Festival.

Surrounding Hellawell’s work are excerpts from chamber works that are central to the ensemble’s repertoire by Walter Rabl, Finzi, Rebecca Clarke, Beethoven and Messiaen. The artists will invite audience members to join them in an interactive exploration of the music, and young audience members at this concert are particularly welcome, with free tickets available for students in full time education, under 18s, and their guardians. The performance takes place on Sunday 9th November at 3pm in Holy Trinity Church, Ripon. Tickets and full details may be found by clicking the link below.

As part of their 2025 engagements, Robert and the Trio will perform together at the Newcastle Chamber Music Society, giving a concert of music by Schubert, Debussy, Hellawell and Beethoven on 4th October. The Gould Piano Trio look foward to performing at the Little Missenden Festival on October 8th, and for the Leeds International Concert Season on 28th November.
